Kanagawa, Japan - Sigma Corporation (Headquarters: Kawasaki-shi, Kanagawa, CEO: Kazuto Yamaki) is pleased to announce that Sigma sponsors the photo exhibition "The Family of Man" from Wednesday, August 12 to Monday, August 24, 2026.

In 1956, the photography exhibition "The Family of Man," organized by the Nikkei Inc., was held at Nihonbashi Takashimaya. Comprising approximately 500 works by world-renowned photographers including Robert Capa, Eugene Smith, and Henri Cartier-Bresson, the exhibition strongly impressed upon postwar Japan the universal ideals of "love for humanity and peace," becoming a social phenomenon that attracted over one million visitors nationwide.
Seventy years later, this exhibition, which has left its mark on the history of photography, is revived as a retrospective with approximately 115 works carefully selected from the original. In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Luxembourg in 2027, the exhibition will also feature works by Luxembourg photographers and photojournalists from the Nikkei, responding to the original's ideals from a contemporary perspective.
These numerous fragments of life, captured around the world, quietly pose questions to us that transcend time and borders. In today's world, rife with division and anxiety, these questions are not about past ideals. What these photographs tell us is not about past history, but a question directed at us, who live in the present. (From the exhibition website; see "About the Exhibition")
As a camera and lens manufacturer, we have always been deeply motivated by the art and history of photography. Supporting the photographic and visual arts is a core tenet of our corporate mission. As a brand deeply committed to crafting photographic equipment with sincerity, it is an extraordinary honor for us to contribute in some small way to an opportunity of such immense historical significance.

About Sigma
MADE IN AIZU, JAPAN
Sigma is a Japanese manufacturer of photographic lenses and cameras.
Since Sigma's founding in 1961, we have continued to innovate and push the standards of optical engineering out of a deep respect for the creative ways photographers and filmmakers engage with the world. The exceptional quality of "Made in Aizu, Japan" is made possible by Sigma's sole production base, the Aizu factory, and our supply chain concentrated in the Tohoku region. This quality embodies the true essence of Sigma--an integration of local wisdom, craftsmanship, and technology.
"The Art of engineering. Engineering for Art."
As a camera and lens manufacturer, we have always been deeply motivated by the art of photography. We are inspired by the passion of photographers and filmmakers everywhere and hope that our relentless pursuit of quality and innovation will help artists realize their visions. Supporting the photographic and visual arts is a core tenet of our corporate mission. In addition to our ongoing sponsorships and partnerships with numerous festivals and cultural events, as well as maintaining, growing, and exhibiting our library of photobooks, we established a foundation in July 2025 to publish photobooks. Through initiatives such as this, we continue to expand and deepen our support for the arts.
